What is a reasonable amount of money to spend on a prom dress?

Im looking around on Ebay for a crazy, awesome dress, medieval style. But i want to know what people normally spend on prom dresses so i can get a general price range. Also to keep me from getting to attached to anything, and keeping myself realistic. Not to mention im just curious.
I am the kind of person who will wear this dress multiple times, over, and over, and over again.

I’m starting to look for prom dresses but I’m having trouble finding one that I think would work for me, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of a good style for me. I’m about 5’5, 105 lbs, and a small bust so I don’t want to go strapless. I’m really looking for a long, elegant dress but I’m not exactly sure which way to go and in what color. I have dark brown hair and brown eyes. Any ideas or good websites?
