How do you make the bottom of a prom dress poofy?

Im Making a princess style prom dress…Im hoping to do it all one peice not a top and bottom but how do you make the bottom poofy when the top is fitted?

Crinoline underskirts.
You need to add "V" shaped pieces of fabric into the skirt part. It all really depends on how you’re going about making the entire dress, but if all you need to do is make the skirt more "poofy" than you can cut from the bottom of the skirt up to almost the waistline and sew in the additional fabric (turn it like an upside-down v, pointy part of the v towards the waistline). This will give you a much more ample appearance at the bottom.
