Can I bleach my hot pink, polyester prom dress to make it completely white?

I have a dress that I bought last year for my senior prom and it is 100% polyester. The color of the dress is like a hot pink and since I’ve laid my eyes on it, I’ve wanted to wear it for my wedding someday but obviously it needs to be white. Would I be able to bleach my dress and get a whole round white color? Or would it mess up the dress?

I wouldn’t do it. Quite often bleach doesn’t get out all of the colour and you could wind up with a beige or blotchy beige/pink dress, that is if the bleach doesn’t destroy the fabric first.
Besides, why would you want to wear an out of style dress on your wedding day that might not even fit anymore by the time you get married?
If you still like it when the big day approaches, you can take the dress to a dressmaker and they can copy it for you in white and possibly in a nicer fabric.
probably not…
just buy the dress in white?
I would say if thats possible, you would likely ruin the dress. I would talk to a seamstress or someone who specializes in altering clothing, they would know how to possibly do that without messing it up.
I’m pretty sure dying doesnt work on polyester, but i couldnt hurt to take it to a dry cleaner that does altering too they can sometimes dye things that you wouldnt think possible
i dont think thats a good idea
thats a tricky one! but its worth trying i guess, just ask the person if they have ever done it before lol
I’d talk to a drycleaner; you can ruin the dress if you don’t. I do have a question for you tho. Why does your wedding dress have to be white? Mine was cream, and i know someone that got married in black!
i agree the bleach might ruin the cloth it is best to take the dress to a professional and if they mess it up they pay for it
I wouldn’t do it. Polyester doesn’t dye well and at most you’d get a lighter shade of pink or even ruin the dress.
I would first just go to a craft store, etc. and buy a Ritt Fabric Color Remover and try that first!
Then turn to bleach, and if its nt right, then bring it to a sewstress and have her replicate it for your wedding.
yeah
