There is a cardboard tag with a 12 handwritten on it. However, fit is closer to a modern size 6 (Small).
Metal zipper down the back. This is a gorgeous vintage formal dress from the 1950s. It would make a great prom dress, and I could also easily see it being used as a bridesmaids dress or wedding gown for a vintage themed wedding. The outer layer of the bodice is made out of an off white floral lace. There is an additional layer of tulle under the lace layer, and the bodice is lined in yellow acetate. The skirt is made out of three layers as well. The outer layer is white tulle netting, and under that is a layer of yellow tulle netting. The inner layer is yellow acetate. The dress has short cap sleeves and a fitted nip waist. The skirt has a very full cut.
The dress closes with a metal zipper down the back. PLEASE NOTE: When I put the dress on my mannequin, I displayed it over a crinoline to help show off the fullness of the skirt. However, the listing is just for the dress. The crinoline is not included. There is a cardboard tag with the number 12 handwritten on it.
However, vintage sizes tend to run smaller than modern sizes. I believe this dress is closer to a modern size 6 (Small). The actual measurements are as follows.
17.5" across, underarm to underarm 35" around. There are bust darts just below this that expand the bust slightly. Waist: 13" across (26" around) Hips: Full and roomy Length: 50 from the shoulder to the hem. These are the actual measurements of the garment, so please leave yourself room for comfort of movement. All measurements were taken with the item laying flat.
The flat measurements were doubled to give an approximate measurement around. This dress is in VERY GOOD condition for its age. However, I did notice a couple super tiny pinhead marks on the yellow lining of the bodice (see second to last picture for example). Since there is a layer of tulle and a layer of lace over the lining, the little marks are very hard to see.I also noticed that the tulle on the left sleeve has been mended (see last picture). There is a small mend to the tulle on the back of the dress as well. These are very minor flaws that really shouldn't be noticeable at all when the dress is worn! I also have many other items in my store, so check out my other listings! BY PURCHASING, YOU ARE AGREEING TO THE FOLLOWING STORE POLICIES. I know that purchasing clothing online can be risky, and I want all of my customers to have a great experience in my store. The item must be sent back no later than 14 days after you received it. If the item had tags, they must still be attached. I go to the post office every week day, Monday - Friday. Ive had some customers get their packages in around a week, and for others, it has taken a month. The large majority of the items in my store are vintage, and therefore pre-owned.
I do my best to only put items up for sale that are in very good to excellent vintage condition, and I will list any major flaws that I notice. However, most vintage clothing has been around for several decades or more, and it may have some minor snags in the fabric, the occasional loose thread or other minimal signs of wear. Vintage items may also have raw seams that have not been serged. By purchasing, you are accepting that these items are used and may not be 100% perfect. However, if you feel I have overlooked a major flaw, please let me know!
I personally have a SMOKE FREE AND PET FREE HOME. I won't sell a piece of clothing if I notice a smoke smell on it from a previous owner. I have no way of knowing if the original owner of the clothing had pets, but I will use a lint roller to remove any fuzz or stray hair I notice.
Because most of what I sell is vintage, an item may have been in storage for quite a few years, so I always recommend you wash or dry clean your item before wearing it. If for some reason you have a problem, please CONTACT ME before leaving negative or neutral feedback, and I will do my best to help you with your concerns!
