Your Questions About Long Dark Blue Prom Dresses

      Betty asks…

What color shoes to wear with a navy blue dress?

It is for prom. The dress is navy with navy/dark blue beading and it is long. I’m not sure which color shoes and clutch would go with this.

      Vickie answers:

One of the most common things to do would be to buy a nice pair of WHITE shoes and get them dyed to match your dress exactly. Many people do this, but if you dont want to pay to get this done there are other ways you can go.

Dont wear black shoes. Or white
the reason i say this is…black and navey blue often clash. They can be okay depending on the shade of blue (if its more like a midnight with purple pigment) but if it is a blue that is close to black, most often a black shoe will make you look more like you thought your shoe or dress was the same colour but accidentally are wearing the wrong one. As for the white, the reason I dont sugest it is becuase its very contrasty to the dark blue. If you are open to going for a more wild look, then white shoes are okay, if you get some pearls or jewlery to match, but if you want to be more subtle and matchy i would stay away from white. My idea is this:
go for a metalic shoe. When colours are hard to match the metalics or shine of a shoe really accentuates the dress and also is easier to find hair accessories or jewlery to match. Go with, something shiny, like a dark silver or light silver. If you want to go with a colour, like a shade of blue that is fine too. What you need to do is make sure the colour is picked up elsewhere. Some options on how to do this is

      a) get some bobby pins with a small gemstone that is the same colour as your shoe and put them throughout your hair…elegant and picks up the colour nicley
      b) wear jewlery, earings, ect that work with your shoe colour
      c) pick out a handbag that is the same colour as your dress with embroderi or design, beadding ect. That has your shoe colour in it.

Enjoy finding the right prom shoes :) good luck

      Mark asks…

      Alternative prom dress/hair?

I like different kinds of styles, but my favs would have to be a toned-down punk, indie, and boho chic. I’m going to prom with my boyfriend, but we’re also just going to hang out with our friends. I don’t want to go too all out, because I’m waiting for my senior year to do that.

I’m really thin, and I look best in darker colors. I want to look different than I did at homecoming. I just srunched my hair, and had a simple dark blue dress. http://s740.photobucket.com/albums/xx44/AutumnPestilence/?action=view&current=34436_1408847353897_1613856909_30918809_6322626_n.jpg

Here are some dresses that I like:

      http://evanity.com/product/fashion-dresses-for-women/bead+trim+ruched+dress.do?sortby=ourPicks

I like this in red: http://www.gojane.com/48331-formals-asymmetrical-sequin-rhinestone-cocktail-formal.html

In the black (slightly purple-ish looking to me?): http://www.gojane.com/15421-formals-asymmetric-ruffle-formal.html

A little expensive, but the favorite out of all of the longer dresses I’ve seen: http://www.promdressshop.com/Prom-Dress-Blush-5020.aspx

I like the rock-ish way they’ve accessorized this, and I love the asymmetrical cut: http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=71275&CatID=80998&GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=1ae3da1&Dep=JUNIORS&Pcat=PROM+Shop&Cat=Dresses&cmAMS_T=XS2&cmAMS_C=C1&CmCatId=71275|80997|81004

Also, if someone could find something military inspired, I would love you. :)

My hair is cut in a layered bob, and is stacked in the back. Here’s a picture:
(Sorry, this is the best I’ve got) http://s740.photobucket.com/albums/xx44/AutumnPestilence/?action=view&current=34436_1408847353897_1613856909_30918809_6322626_n.jpg#!oZZ3QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs740.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fxx44%2FAutumnPestilence%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3Duntitled.jpg

      And in the front: http://s740.photobucket.com/albums/xx44/AutumnPestilence/?action=view&current=34436_1408847353897_1613856909_30918809_6322626_n.jpg#!oZZ4QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs740.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fxx44%2FAutumnPestilence%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3D164104_1665082119613_1614084158_1550897_7575336_n.jpg

I don’t know what to do with it. It’s too short to put up in any sort of way, unless I just do the sides somehow. I scrunched it one day, and it’s cute, but not very formal: http://s740.photobucket.com/albums/xx44/AutumnPestilence/?action=view&current=34436_1408847353897_1613856909_30918809_6322626_n.jpg#!oZZ2QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs740.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fxx44%2FAutumnPestilence%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3DIMG_0384.jpg

Sorry this is all so long, trying to put out as much as possible.

      Thomas asks…

Makeup for a blue prom dress?

My dress is strapless, long, and flowing. It will be a deep blue-teal or a navy blue (haven’t decided between the two) I’ll be wearing silver accessories with fake diamond-like crystals.
I have brown eyes, dark brown hair… what color should my makeup be? :)

      thanks!

      Vickie answers:

Do a white and silver shimmery eye look with a good white cream highlighter and just a pretty dewy glowing look
